Riding a motorcycle that isn't yours, whether it's a rental on a tour, a demo ride at a dealership, or a new bike you just brought home, takes more adjustment than many experienced riders expect. Your hands learned the clutch and front brake on your own bike, and those habits don't carry over the way you'd think. In this video I cover the two controls to get used to first on any unfamiliar motorcycle: where the friction zone sits, and how hard the front brake bites. I also compare the front brakes on my Triumph Rocket 3 and Indian Scout to show how far apart two bikes can be, and why that difference matters the first time you need to stop in a hurry.
